We’ve gone sustainable!

We have made the move from plastic packaging for our Silvermoor Swingers to a fully recyclable paper packaging. To celebrate the move, we have also released a new flavour Unicorn Swinger.

Sustainability has high been on our agenda with all our latest product launches in fully recyclable packaging.

Our Managing Director, Ralph Thompson, commented: “The Grassabix product launched in 2021 are packaged in a recyclable box and the bumper packs a recyclable paper bag. We have made it our mission to be as sustainable as we possibly can and have an objective to move to sustainable packaging for as many products as possible. The Swingers product has been a priority for us, as it is our signature small product.”

We are the only producers of the forage-based, healthy, boredom busting, high fibre, slow-release feed for the stable. We hold the UK patent for the product and have patents pending on both Europe and the USA on the product.

The innovative design attaches to the rope and is hung from a height in a stable. There are no corners so your horse will not be able to grab at it and gobble it down. Eating regularly and over a longer period of time promotes saliva production in horses which buffers stomach acids and helps prevent against gastric ulcers.

Low in starch and low in sugar Swingers are available in four flavours Gorgeous Grass, Captivating Carrot and Amazing Apple and just launched Unicorn Swingers. Unicorn Swingers are flavoured with Silvermoor’s signature magical minty unicorn flavouring.

There has been extensive research to make sure the packaging holds up to movement between us, wholesalers, retailers and the end user.

We don’t just use sustainable paper packaging for Swingers and Grassabix we also use recyclable plastic packaging for their haylage bags. Due to the volatile nature of haylage it must be kept away from oxygen and therefore plastic is the only real option. But we have made sure they are using a 100% recyclable polythene packaging.
