Hi everyone,

Things have been pretty quiet from me and Merlin over the past few weeks due to me sitting my A level exams, however we have still been up to some very exciting things.

All the way back in April we competed at the NSEA County Championships at Bury Farm with our school riding team. In the first outside round, Merlin put in a super speedy clear round to help the team into first place before the seconds rounds. In the indoor round, Merlin did an even speedier round with an unfortunate pole. Sadly, the difficult, up to height, course got the best of some of our other team members so we didn’t pick up a placing, but Merlin finished in the top 20 out of around 100 competitors.

At the end of May, we headed all the way to Hickstead (from Suffolk) for the NSEA Arena Eventing Championships. In the mixed height competition on the first day, Merlin and I jumped the 100cm round and he flew round helping the team to finish 8th. In the championship class the following day Merlin stormed round with a silly nap back to the gate which resulted in a stop. Once again the tricky course meant there were no placings for our team. Our most recent competition was Stratford Hills BE90 on the 16th June. Merlin put in an absolutely stunning dressage test for a 29.3 (73.7%) and a cracking clear show jumping to put us into 3rd going into cross country. Unfortunately, after a good start cross country, Merlin took a disliking to the second fence resulting in me hitting the deck (video on my instagram for those who would like a laugh @bf.eventing).

We have a super busy summer coming up, kicking off with Great Witchingham’s BE90 this weekend and a weeks holiday in Holkham to take Merlin to the beach.

In August, we our once again heading back to Hickstead for the Hickstead Elite Show Jumping championships at 100cm.

Silvermoor products have been an absolute life saver for me and Merlin. Merlin is an extremely hot headed and stressy horse and the Swingers are perfect for keeping him calm and relaxed in the stable. They were especially good for tying up at champs to keep him entertained in a new environment. The fact that the Swingers are low in starch and sugar makes them the perfect boredom buster as they don’t make Merlin hot at all and they are brilliant for ensuring his ulcers do not come back. The Treatsies are also perfect for doing stretches with Merlin to keep him supple and agile through his neck. His personal favourites are the Apple Swingers and the Calming Chamomile Treatsies.
